Fees are reviewed annually and will be discussed ahead of your appointment with Shannon.
Information about our fee and cancellation policy is emailed as part of your welcome pack.
Fees for Psycho-educational and Psycho-social assessments are determined and quoted ahead of
commencement.
Fees are inclusive of clinical and organisational administration.
You may be eligible for a rebate for some psychological services via Medicare or other funding programs.
Medicare Funding:
Mental Health Care Plans (MHCP)
You/your child may be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) which is prepared by a General Practitioner, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist under the Better Access to Mental Health Scheme. Your doctor may decide to refer patients for psychological services including individual and group sessions, that may occur in person or via telehealth (such as online or phone).
A MHCP entitles you/your child to six therapy sessions, at which time, a letter including recommendations is sent to your doctor by your psychologist. Your doctor will assess and determine if a subsequent four sessions are warranted. A maximum of ten sessions per calendar year are rebatable.
Under a MHCP, psychologists with general registration, or endorsement in an area other than clinical psychology attract a minimum rebate of $93.35. This rebate increases if families have reached their Medicare Safety Net threshold.
Please note: you can continue to see Shannon privately upon completion of a mental healthcare plan should you choose to do so after ten sessions as required.
Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan
Sometimes when people require access to multidisciplinary professionals (such as Psychology, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Paediatric Physiotherapy) a CDM plan may be prepared by a medical practitioner. A CDM referral provides a person with access to up to five therapy sessions over a
12-month period. Medicare pays a rebate for these sessions, which increases if families reach their Medicare Safety Net threshold.
Some Further Information about MHCP and Medicare
Parents attending parent sessions are not able to claim a rebate under their child's MHCP. This includes the initial intake appointment.
Please note that Shannon provides 10-15 minutes to speak with parents at the end of each session with your child (therefore claimable under MHCP).
Learning assessments are not able to be claimed under Medicare.
We are not a bulk billing practice.
Private Health Funds
You may be eligible for a rebate through your private health fund depending on the level of your extras cover. Please check with your private health fund to determine your eligibility.
Payment Process
Payment is strictly to be made on the day of the appointment and can be arranged by bank transfer or credit card.
Cancellation Policy
A minimum of 24 hours notice is required if you are unable to attend an appointment, so this time can be offered to other clients. Your session has been reserved especially for you, so all missed appointments or late cancellations will incur a fee.
Please note that fees for late cancellations or non-attendance of appointments are not covered by any funding schemes and therefore no rebates will apply.
